Virginia Negru

Virginia Negru is a Bucharest-based dancer, performer and Contact Improvisation teacher, practicing CI since 2006. Her work explores Contact Improvisation, real-time composition and philosophical attention to how bodies meet.

Virginia's practice has developed through workshops, festivals and jams across Europe and the USA. She has studied with many teachers and collaborators, including Nancy Stark Smith, Benno Voorham, Sybrig Dokter, Stephen Batts, Ursula Laeubli, Catrina Choate, Scott Wells, Alexandra Soshnicova and Sergey Golovnea.

She currently studies philosophy, teaches weekly Contact Improvisation classes in Bucharest, performs, and continues to travel to teach and learn. Her Contact+ class keeps attention on arrival, touch and the ways bodies begin to listen in relation.
