Samovarteateret
Samovarteateret is an independent professional theatre company based in Kirkenes, Norway, near the borders with Russia and Finland. Its work uses border landscapes, multilingual performance and physical theatre as material for cross-border artistic collaboration.
Founded in 1990 by artistic director Bente S. Andersen, Samovarteateret has developed an interdisciplinary language that brings together theatre, contemporary dance, physical acting, multilingual dialogue, live music and video. Its name refers to the samovar as a vessel that is refilled, emptied and kept at the boiling point.
At Contact+, the company presents Outside/Inside through film / presentation, bringing its northern stage context into the festival's performance program. The work looks at how outer tensions enter inner life and opens into a conversation with Nikolay Shchetnev.
