Nikolay Shchetnev

Nikolay Shchetnev is an independent contemporary dancer, choreographer and performance artist based in Kirkenes, Norway. His work bridges Northern Russian and Scandinavian dance contexts through contact improvisation, physical performance and cross-border theatre.

Nikolay studied choreography at the Arkhangelsk College of Culture and Art. In 1998 he established Drugoy Tanets, an experimental laboratory for contact improvisation and physical performance, and later founded Touch, an international contemporary dance festival in Arkhangelsk.

Since moving to Norway, he has worked with Samovarteateret in Kirkenes as a dancer, choreographer and company artist. At Contact+ he appears through Outside/Inside, an interdisciplinary film / presentation that combines improvised music, dance, theatre, scenographic storytelling and video, followed by a discussion with the audience.
