Marina Baranova

Marina Baranova is a Contact Improvisation teacher, performer and organiser who has practiced and taught CI since 2006. Her work treats movement as non-verbal dialogue, connecting structure, emotion and awareness through weight, momentum and relation.

Marina has taught Contact Improvisation in workshop, community and institutional contexts, including work with non-dancers and classes connected to the Center for Contact Improvisation. Her teaching emphasizes spatial awareness, physical listening and the possibility of meeting another person when words are not enough.

Her Contact+ class, Way in and Way Out, explores how a dance changes when it moves from solo into duet or trio, and how the dancer finds a way back to solo. The class keeps the focus on entering relation, leaving it and returning with more clarity.
