Benno Voorham

Benno Voorham is an international performer, choreographer and teacher from the Netherlands, based in Sweden since 1995. His work brings together Contact Improvisation, compositional improvisation, the narrative body and recent research into video as a partner in performance.

Benno graduated from the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam in 1986. Since then, he has worked internationally as an independent dance artist, directing his own work and collaborating in both set and improvised performance contexts.

He is widely known as a teacher of Contact Improvisation and Compositional Improvisation. His teaching and performance practice explores the creative and narrative potentials of the human body; in recent years, he has also investigated how video can enter performance without replacing the performer's presence.
